State Senator Joe Addabbo has represented Queens communities since 2008, after previously serving seven years in the New York City Council. A lifelong resident of Queens, Joe has always put his constituents and the communities they live in first. Like his constituents, Joe attended local schools and he is a dedicated family man who enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters.
In the Senate, Joe is working hard to end the ongoing public safety crisis in New York City by getting illegal guns off the street and passing anti-hate crime laws while demanding that city services like the sanitation department keep our streets clean.
Joe is also working hard to ensure the middle class can afford to raise a family here. Joe passed rent laws to protect tenants and small landlords, he secured a higher minimum wage, and he’s invested millions to improve our schools. From new immigrants bringing energy and entrepreneurial spirit to our communities to Queens families who have lived here for generations, Joe is proud to stand up for his constituents and make a difference in their lives.
Joe makes serving his constituents and upholding their values his top priority in the State Senate.
Joe was proud to vote for the Equal Rights Amendment in New York that addressed domestic violence, fair pay, and codified Roe v. Wade into New York law.
Joe has working to remove illegal guns from New York since the NY SAFE Act first passed nearly a decade ago, and he continues to support updates to our laws to prevent tragic gun violence.
Joe is a committed member of the Veterans, Homeland Security and Military Affairs Committee, and he regularly sponsors jobs fairs to help our bravest sons and daughters find employment after their service.
Joe knows small businesses are the lifeblood of our communities, and that’s why he ensured thousands of local businesses received critical funding relief during the height of the COVID crisis.
Joe has always fought to ensure New York City remains affordable for working people, which is why he voted to raise the minimum wage, to greatly expand child tax credits, and to pass laws protecting tenants and small landlords.
As the grandson of immigrants, Joe has always supported our immigrant community. Joe has secured millions in funding for all of our local schools, and he operates a 24-hour hotline in his office to help all residents access important government services.
